What is a Precinct Captain?
A Precinct Captain is a trusted neighborhood leader and the backbone of local Democratic organizing. Hernando County is divided into voting precincts, which are small, clearly defined geographic areas that make it easier to connect with voters right where they live. Each precinct is typically represented by two volunteers, one man and one woman, who work together to ensure their neighbors stay informed, engaged, and ready to participate in our democracy.
Precinct Captains build relationships with Democratic voters in their precinct, welcome new voters, share important updates from the local party, and support Democratic candidates. They help organize grassroots efforts like canvassing, phone banking, and voter turnout activities, especially during election season. Serving as the direct link between the community and the Hernando County Democratic Party, Precinct Captains play a vital role in making sure every voter feels seen, heard, and empowered.
There are currently open Precinct Captain positions throughout Hernando County.
