Who We Are
Every day is a great day to be a Democrat, and we’re turning that energy into real momentum here in Hernando County. Our team shows up, speaks out, and organizes to strengthen our community and win the future together.
Our Purpose
As the county arm of the Florida Democratic Party (FDP), the purpose of the HCDEC is to determine the policy, and carry out the work, of the Florida Democratic Party. We seek to find, train, and support Democratic candidates for party leadership and local, state, and national offices that represent and uphold the core principles of the Democratic Party and that reflect the diversity of Hernando County voters. Our work is to promote a just society for our county, state and nation, and political freedom for all citizens that encourages meaningful participation by all citizens. The framework for our work is our belief that all Floridians deserve the freedom to be healthy, safe and prosperous.

How We're Organized
The Democratic Executive Committee (DEC) is the governing body of the Democratic Party in Hernando County. The voting members of the DEC also known as the committeemen and committeewomen from each precinct. These members are required to attend our meetings held every month and represent their constituency to the DEC.
Our leadership team is elected from the membership every four years, immediately following the President Election.
